- "That's what I do. Fall out of the sky, make bad decisions, and somehow everyone still follows me." ―Aerys
A powerful and highly influential figure of his time, Inquisitor Aerys ascended as Inquisitor at the conclusion of the Mage-Templar War. Before that, Aerys was a disowned member of House Trevelyan. Aerys was exiled from his house at the age of five, when it was discovered that he had magical potential. Almost immediately after, he forcefully joined the Ostwick Circle of Magi, becoming one of its most successful apprentices.
Shortly before the Conclave, Aerys was sent by the Ostwick Circle as a representative. However, after arrival, an explosion caused the young mage to fall into the Fade alongside Divine Justinia. After the explosion, Aerys was left with a magical mark on his right hand, which he continued to bear up until the defeat of the Elder One.
During his time as Inquisitor, Aerys was noted for his levelheadedness and witty personality, but also for his stoic, friendly, and kind demeanor. However, after Solas' betrayal, Aerys became cruel, withdrawn, unforgiving, and tyrannical, putting everything - including himself - on the line in hopes of destroying his former friend and ally.
Early life Edit
Aerys was born in the dual-walled Free Marcher city of Ostwick in 9:16 Dragon. Aerys was the twin-brother of Aenys Trevelyan, who died in the womb after being strangled by the umbilical chord. As the youngest member of the Trevelyan noble family, Aerys was expected to join the Templar Order or the Chantry after becoming of age. However, this changed when Aerys was discovered to be a mage. His family, strong Andrastian followers, hated mages and Aerys was taken to the Circle of Magi at the age of five. Afterwards, all records on Aerys were erased from House Trevelyan, his image scorched away from the family portrait. The only thing that remained was his surname, the one thing his father, Bann Aegon Trevelyan, could not erase.
While at the Circle, Aerys went under the tutelage of Senior Enchanter Lydia, a woman Aerys considered to be like a mother. Aerys became one of the Circle's most esteemed apprentices, completing his Harrowing with relative ease.
During his time in the Circle, Aerys became infatuated with a female Templar, but was too shy to ever approach her.
